From Port Isabel to the Courtroom: Kenny Perez's Story
From Port Isabel to the Courtroom: Kenny Perez's Story
Kenny Perez didn't grow up in a family of lawyers. He grew up in Port Isabel, a small fishing community on the southern tip of Texas, where his family worked offshore. Those early years taught him something no law school could: the value of hard work, discipline, and standing by the people who count on you.
That working-class foundation shaped everything about how Kenny practices law today. He understands what it means when an injury threatens your ability to provide for your family. He knows the stress of mounting medical bills and missed paychecks. And he's built his entire practice around making sure injured people in the Rio Grande Valley don't have to face insurance companies alone.
Education and Early Career
Kenny earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where his leadership abilities quickly became evident. He served as Student Body President and was named Student of the Year in 2012 - distinctions that reflected his ability to advocate effectively and organize around a common cause.
After college, Kenny gained practical business experience working for one of the nation's largest banks. His role in loan analysis and business risk mitigation gave him an analytical foundation that would later prove invaluable in evaluating personal injury claims, calculating damages, and negotiating with insurance companies.
His passion for advocacy ultimately led him to pursue a law degree at South Texas College of Law Houston. During law school, Kenny worked at the Harris County District Attorney's Office, where he developed courtroom skills and gained firsthand experience in the Texas legal system.
His performance didn't go unnoticed. Kenny received the Best Oralist Award in the law school's rigorous trial advocacy program and earned the Vinson & Elkins Public Sector Scholarship - recognition reserved for students demonstrating exceptional promise in public service.
Professional Recognition and Bar Admissions
After graduating, Kenny joined one of the country's top law firms, where he received elite training in complex litigation. But his heart remained in South Texas. He returned to the Rio Grande Valley to open his own practice, focused on representing injured individuals and families against powerful insurance companies.
